Studied Genetics for Bio for the whole of today. I MUGGED. Woohoo. Now my brain is saturated with information about meiosis, mitosis, DNA replication, protein synthesis, rNA, mRNA, tRNA, etc. I've got a throbbing headache. Ow.

I'm in the mood for some randomness.

I like hot butts. I wonder where the glittery belt I wore for reception duty yesterday, has gone to. I'm actually happy now. I miss Xiao Ming and Xia Wei alot, suddenly. I think my retainers are gross. I'm craving for a Rotiboy. I love my new knitted bandana. I should really stop biting nails. Britney Spears bites her nails; eww, BIG TIME. I want new clothes. Bought a new hairband today. It's pink. Wonder how long it'll last before I break it. How does real love feel like? Is it true love, when you feel an explicable pang of sadness when you see him? Sadness which you can't really describe, or find a reason for, but it rips through your guts like a rusty, blunt knife, causing pain that's so bad that you're too shocked to react, even though it reverberates endlessly through your soul. How to spell 'reverberates' correctly?

Don't worry, it's not about me. I'm just wondering, honestly.
Random thoughts running through my head.

Shujing is an EXPERT at braiding hair. She could actually braid my super-layered hair...didn't think that was possible! That girl has patience.

Transcription:
1. The enzyme, RNA polymerase, binds to a region of DNA near the beginning of the gene to be transcribed. This region is called the promoter region.

2. The binding of RNA polymerase to the promoter region causes the DNA double helix to unwind and seperate. The sense strand (one of the exposed DNA strands) is used as a template for mRNA synthesis. The other sense that is not transcribed is the anti-sense strand.

3. As RNA polymerase moves from the 3' to 5' direction, free ribonucleotides from the nucleoplasm, which are complementary to the bases in the DNA template, match themselves to the DNA template by complementary base pairing. THe new mRNA strand grows in the 5' to 3' direction. Adjacent ribonucleotides are joined by phosphodiester bonds.

4. When RNA polymerase reaches the end of the gene, it releases the newly-formed mRNA and the DNA rewinds. mRNA exits the nucleus via nuclear pores.

I love putu piring (delicious malay snack made of rice flour, with peanut, coconut or brown sugar inside).
